Professor Profile

Nathalie Mondain

Demographer and sociologist, Nathalie Mondain performed her PhD in demography in 2004 at the University of Montreal. Since then she has been working on various issues in Western African contexts focusing on population issues. These are mainly related to family dynamics and reproductive health; international migration and their implications for the local social dynamics (in Senegal) and for the migrants within the host country (in Canada); in the past years she has been focusing on research practices and methodological issues while doing fieldwork and more specifically on the related ethical aspects. She has coordinated a project in Senegal and Burkina Faso on these matters and she is now involved in a program aiming at implementing a demographic surveillance system in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso).
