Application for Research Groups
The Faculty of Social Sciences is holding a competition in support of the creation of two social science research groups (disciplinary or interdisciplinary). Funding for these research groups will come from administrative costs for research contracts obtained by Faculty of Social Sciences researchers.
It is hoped that the creation of the research groups will generate synergy between Faculty researchers, increase the visibility of social science research, and facilitate the acquisition of external grants, the supervision of graduate students and the integration of young professors.
The Faculty will allocate a maximum of $7,500 in non-renewable funding as well as three assistantships over three years (for a total of $28,980). Only direct-research and operational costs incurred by the group are eligible. For example, the budget may be used to pay for professional networking costs and to purchase databanks, multiple licence software or computer equipment. However, the budget cannot include release time stipends and attendance at conferences. The retention of funding for an research groups is conditional upon approval of an annual report that outlines activities carried out, financial results for the year, planned activities, expected results, and the long-term research and funding strategy. The Research Committee is responsible for evaluating applications and annual reports in order to provide recommendations to the Dean.
