Senior fellow and co-founder of UQO Luc Chaput puts forward an innovative program proposal aimed at changing and revitalizing the under graduate studies in Canada. Culture and Local Governance (CLG) is a peer-reviewed online journal. CLG offers a space for dialogue across disciplinary boundaries, between established and emerging scholars, and between academics and practitioners. In order to enhance the social impact of work published in its pages, CLG emphasizes research diffusion and communication. In keeping with this philosophy, CLG is an open access journal. Events

The Centre on Governance introduces: Professor Momtaz Uddin Ahmed (Department of Economics, University of Dhaka) presenting “Developing Women Entrepreneurship in Small and Medium Enterprises in Bangladesh: Issues, Realities and Policies”.

The focus will be on discussion of the current state of women entrepreneurship development in Bangladesh in the SME sector. The issues covered will include profiles, performance and problems of the women entrepreneurs. Their potential contributions to help sustain economic progress with equitable socio-cultural development will be highlighted. Government policies and institutional support now in place for development of SME women entrepreneurs will be discussed and suggestions for required changes will be made.

The Canadian Urban Institute and the Centre on Governance introduce: “The Canadian Urban Forum: A Conference to Identify New Models for Infrastructure”

The Canadian Urban Forum/Le Forum urbain du Canada is an event intended to both reignite interest in Canada’s urban agenda and provide impetus to a meaningful contribution from Canada to UN Habitat’s World Urban Forum (WUF) to be held in Medellin, Columbia in 2014. The theme of the first Canadian Urban Forum is “New Models for Tomorrow’s Infrastructure/De nouveaux modèles pour l’infrastructure de demain,” a topic that is relevant to cities in the developed world – like Canada and Europe – but also in developing countries, the principal focus of Habitat’s World Urban Forum.
