Definition of Special Student (Undergraduate)
Special students are persons allowed by the University to register for undergraduate courses, for credit or as auditors, without seeking a degree, diploma or a certificate from the University.

Where should I go to register?
Students looking to register as a special student for courses from the Faculty of Social Sciences must register at the appropriate location, depending on the special student category they are applying for:
- Personal interest - Register in person at InfoService, University of Ottawa, Tabaret Hall, 75 Laurier Avenue East
- Transfer of credits, upgrading, professional certification or students from Carleton University - Register in person at the Academic Secretariat (Undergraduate), Faculty of Social Sciences, Desmarais Hall, 55 Laurier Avenue East, room 3101
BE READY: Steps to follow in order to accelerate your registration:
- Prepare a list of courses you wish to register for; the course code and section must be included (each section corresponds to a specific schedule);
- Verify the schedule of courses to prevent conflicts;
- Ensure that you have completed or are currently completing prerequisite courses;
- Bring necessary documents (transcripts, letter of permission, etc.);
- Have completed and signed the appropriate form "Registration (Special Students)"
