Bursaries Offered by the Faculty

Faculty of Social Sciences Fund

This fund supports a bursary for a student in financial need, registered full-time and who has successfully completed at least 24 credits at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Eligibility Criteria:
The applicant must:

  • be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident;
  • have completed at least 24 credits of full-time studies in an undergraduate program at the University of Ottawa and be registered full-time in a program at the Faculty of Social Sciences;
  • have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 4.5;
  • demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa;
  • provide a documented background and continuing interest in community and/or volunteer activities which involve helping people; and
  • not be receiving another award from the University of Ottawa of equal or greater value in the same year.

Value of Award: $1,000
Number of Awards: 2 (one to a Francophone student and one to an Anglophone student).
Frequency of the Award: Annual
Level of the Award : Undergraduate level

Application Procedure:
Applications must be made through the Online Scholarships and Bursaries System, available through uoZone, and should include:

  • the "Financial Questionnaire" section ;
  • a statement of community interests from the applicant;
  • a resume indicating a continuing commitment and interest in community and/or volunteer activities which involve helping people;
  • a reference letter in support of the applicant's commitment and/or volunteer activities.
