Bursaries Offered by the Faculty

Caroline Andrew Bursary Fund

It is in honor of Caroline Andrew, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences from 1998 to 2005 and professor at the School of Political Studies, that the Faculty is offering annual bursaries to students registered full-time in an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Social Sciences and whose candidacy for international exchange has been retained.

The donors thank the Government of Ontario for their matching contributions through its Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS) program.

PURPOSE OF FUND

This fund was established to provide financial aid bursaries to students registered in an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Social Sciences who demonstrate good academic standing, and who display, through active involvement, an interest in activities at the international level and whose candidacy for international exchange has been retained.

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Eligibility Criteria:
The applicant must:

  • be an Ontario resident, as per OSAP rules;
  • demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Financial Aid and Awards Service of the University of Ottawa;
  • have been accepted for an international exchange;
  • have successfully completed at least 54 credits at the University of Ottawa and be registered in an undergraduate program in the Faculty of Social Sciences;
  • have achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 8.0; and
  • demonstrate a continuing interest and commitment in international activities.

Value of Award: $ 1,500
Number of Awards: 2 (one to a Francophone student and one to an Anglophone student)
Frequency of Award: Annual

Application Procedure:
Applications must be made through the Online Scholarships and Bursaries System, available through uZone, and should include:

  • the “Financial Questionnaire ” section;
  • A statement of interest from the applicant;
  • A copy of the applicant’s resume indicating a continuing commitment and interest in international activities;
  • A reference letter in support of the applicant’s commitment;
  • A transcript of university education (The Faculty of Social Sciences will obtain from the Registrar’s Office the University of Ottawa transcript).
