Using the rail industry as an example, Karen Phillips will talk about the Canada/US trade relationship and how cross-border businesses need to adapt to political dynamics in the two countries as well as the security realities of the post-9/11 world.
Karen Borlaug Phillips was appointed Vice President, North American Government Affairs of the Canadian National Railway Company in November 2004 after holding the position of Vice President, U.S. Public and Government Affairs since September 2003 and the position of Vice President, U.S. Government Affairs from December 2000 - September 2003. Prior to joining CN, Mrs. Phillips was President of Policy & Advocacy Associates, a consulting firm providing strategic planning, research, and lobbying services on public policy issues relating to transportation, taxes, and trade.
