New risks to global security: climate change
Frances Wood
Friday, March 6, 2009
1400 to 1500 hours
Odell House, 180 Waller
Frances Wood leads on climate security for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The UK Government sees climate change as a threat to global and its own national securi ty and the team's role is to engage with global partners to deepen the understanding of the implications of climate change on security. This is a newly created team reflecting the importance the Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, places on climate change. She held previous roles leading on the US, Canada and UK domestic climate policy within Climate Change and Energy Group at the FCO and on public engagement on climate change in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (now part of the Department for Energy and Climate Change - DECC). Prior to joining the civil service she completed an MSc in International Security at the University of Bristol.
The Ottawa Roundtable on Security and Intelligence is open to faculty and students, to CASIS members, government officials, interested members of the public and the media. No registration for these events is required and no fee is charged.
