Dr. Michael Warner was appointed chief historian to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence at its inception. He had previously served for many years as Deputy Director of the CIA’s Historical Office. He is a widely published scholar. His recent publications include:

“Building a Theory of Intelligence Systems,” in Greg Treverton, ed., The State of Research in Intelligence Systems (Cambridge, 2009)

“Counter-intelligence: The American Experience,” in Jennifer Sims and Burton Gerber, eds., Rebuilding US Intelligence (Georgetown, 2008)

“Intelligence as Risk Shifting,” in Peter Gill and Mark Pythian, eds., Intelligence Theory: Key Questions and Debates (Routledge, 2008)

The Intelligence Community, 1950-1955, a volume in the State Department’s Foreign Relations of the United States (FRUS) series.

 

A light lunch will be available. The Ottawa Roundtable on Security and Intelligence is open to faculty and students, to CASIS members, government officials, interested members of the public and the media. No registration for these events is required and no fee is charged.
